  3.              BASIS BIS/System for Solaris x86

  5. BASIS, Inc. now offers advanced bar code capabilities for 
  6. SunSoft's Solaris(R) x86 operating environment. The BIS/System(R) 
  7. (bar code information system) links INTERMEC(R) bar code devices 
  8. to Solaris or other UNIX(R) hosts without the need for costly 
  9. gateway processors. BIS/System software provides interfaces for 
  10. multiple devices and processes, and allows users anywhere on a 
  11. network to monitor or control any device.

  13. BIS/System technology reduces programming and equipment costs and 
  14. improves productivity in accounting, manufacturing, retail, 
  15. commercial and other specialized applications using bar codes. Its 
  16. innovative programming tools enable C language programming of 
  17. INTERMEC devices, without the use of IRL(R) (INTERMEC Reader 
  18. Language), and make it easy to incorporate existing IRL 
  19. applications. BIS/System also runs on Solaris SPARC(R) and other 
  20. UNIX platforms as well as other operating systems, and is designed 
  21. for open systems implementations.

  30. SPARC, ensuring full interoperability between the leading CISC
